Wordswell is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to accompanying young people as they navigate a crucial stage of life, helping them to build intellectual capacity, to strengthen academic performance, to enhance their powers of expression, and to develop the capabilities necessary for a life of meaningful service to their communities.

Tutorial Learning
Our tutorial efforts focus on enhancing the intellectual abilities and academic performance of young people as they enter middle school and continue through their high school studies. Our program complements the Ontario school curriculum and aims to strengthen academic commitment and performance.

Internship Program
The internship program provides youth in high school and university with an opportunity to contribute to the wellbeing and progress of their communities by participating in small action-research initiatives in areas including math and language education, health and nutrition, urban agriculture, and local economy. The program involves a weekly pattern of study, action and reflection with the help of a tutor and mentor.

Pebbles to Pearls
Pebbles to Pearls gathers groups of junior youth, those between 12 and 15 years of age, in their neighborhoods, engaging them in a wide range of activities that include study, healthy recreation, arts, and service to the community. Group discussions are enhanced by a sequence of books designed to develop language skills and enhance their powers of expression.

Illumine Media Project
Illumine Media supports young people to produce films that tell compelling stories of youth and their families living in urban neighborhoods, stories that are set in their social reality, that reflect their questions and aspirations and their determination to develop their capacity and to contribute to the wellbeing and advancement of their communities.
